Weekend wrap up and upcoming preview...

Both Pitt and Saint Joseph's won this past weekend to keep both teams undefeated and at the top of their respective division. Just about all the games from this past weekend had to deal with either heavy rains, high winds, or both from the hurricane off in the Atlantic.

To start the weekend, Rutgers traveled to Villanova on Friday night to play under the lights. Villanova struck first with a try in the first half when Brennan Carty ('19) dotted down the ball in the corner of the try zone. Rutgers would close out the half with a pair of penalty kicks to take a halftime lead of 6-5.  In the second half, Rutgers would add to their lead when Derrick Flitcroft ('16) would muscle his way in for the score. Solid defense on both sides would leave the final score locked at 13-5 in favor of Rutgers.

Lock Haven lost at Pitt who pulled away in the second half for a 65-0 win. Matt Dunleavy has been a try scoring machine for Pitt and added two more to his total against Lock Haven. Dunleavy currently leads the KRC with the most trys scored this season.

Shippensburg traveled to Millersville as both teams were looking for their first win. Shippensburg jumped out in the first half with a 14-7 lead over Millersville but the hosts came back in dramatic fashion to win 19-17 in a tightly contested match.

Saint Joseph's traveled to Temple. With both teams undefeated and wanting to take control of first place in the East, much was at stake. Saint Joseph's got off to an early lead as they returned the opening kick off for the first score. Both teams played physical and tough but in the end, Saint Joseph's was able to come up with the 45-10 victory.

As most Universities head home for a fall break, there are two matches that will have the attention of the Keystone Rugby Conference. Both James Madison and West Chester will return from their bye weeks and look to get back in the hunt. Lock Haven will welcome James Madison and West Chester will travel to Rutgers.

Good luck to all teams this weekend and check the Conference website for the last scores and updates!
