The Club

The University of Pittsburgh Rugby Football Club (PRFC) is a club-level sport at the University's Oakland Campus. The PRFC is a SORC certified student organization. The club enjoys the membership of over 50 undergraduate men and fields several sides that contend throughout both autumn and spring seasons.

Competing at USA Rugby's Collegiate DI-AA level, the PRFC is a constituent of the Keystone Rugby Conference (formerly the EPRU), along with several other universities in the Pennsylvania region. Additionally, the club partakes in tournaments and exhibition matches in both fifteens and sevens rugby against numerous varsity and club-level programs across the country.

History

Found in 1981, the University of Pittsburgh Rugby Football Club holds a young, yet storied history of competition and camaraderie. Throughout the years, the club has developed a reputation as the marque brand of rugby in southwestern Pennsylvania, and holds close associations with the men's clubs throughout the city.

In 2012, after clinching the club's seventh of the previous eleven conference titles in the Allegheny Rugby Union, the PRFC exited the league in favor of the newly established Keystone Rugby Conference. In the first DI-AA season in its history, the club claimed twelve consecutive victories to capture the inaugural KRC crown, advancing to a national playoff for the first time since 2004. Additionally, the club boasted seven all-conference players, including Player of the year as well as Coach of the Year.
