Mid-Atlantic Rugby Conference

The first leg of the MARC D2 tournament kicked offed this past weekend at Drexel University. With the sun shining all in attendance could not ask for a better day of rugby. In pool A Bloomsburg continued on with their winning ways going 3-0. In Pool B Millersville also came out unscathed with a 3-0 record. The cup semi-final was set with Bloomsburg vs. Scranton and Millersville vs. Drexel. In the first semifinal Bloomsburgs Marcus Morrison stepped in to put down two tries and lead the Huskies to a 24-7 victory. In the second semi-final the Drexel Dragons used a structured team attack to create space that allowed Zeke ZImmer to run in for 2 tries. Drexel held on to win 24-7 and set up a rematch against Bloomsburg.

The Cup final started with Bloomsburg returning the kick off 70 meters for the first try of the match. Drexel settled in and got a score of their own to take the lead 7-5. With time running down in the first half Bloomsburgs stingy defense turned over the ball, then put in a try at the whistle. Half time score 12-7. The second half proved to be all Bloomsburg. The Huskies Nico DiSabatino and Mike Appleman connected on three consecutive kick restarts to starve the Dragons of the ball while putting the Bloomsburg attack on the front foot. This propelled Bloomsburg to a 24-7 win and the first leg of the D2 MARC championship series.

Leading point scorer of the day was Nico Disabatino (40 points) Other standouts of the day were Huskies Jabari Johnson (6Tries) ,Mike Appleman (5tries), and Drexel's Jameson Reagon (29 points).

Second leg for MARC D2 is set for April 7th at East Stroudsburg University.
