Recap from KRC7's at Temple...

The Keystone Rugby Conference kicked off the 2017 7's Series this Saturday at Temple. This stop in the series featured 10 teams that would play 4 pool matches each and then a one-off championship match.

In the tournament, Saint Joseph's would win all four pool matches and then go on to beat Temple University in the Cup final. Jimmy Wolfer and Noah Niumataiwalu led the way for the Hawks with Wolfer scoring 20 points (2T, 5C) in the final match. Drexel University would lose their first pool match but then went on a winning streak that took them to the Plate Final where they ousted West Virginia. West Virginia's Luke Ellis would score two times for the Mountaineers in the Plate Final but it was Drexel that would score a late try to get the 22-17 victory.  Pitt would win the Bowl over Rowan 27-5 with Matt Dunleavy and Sean Keeley-Cain providing veteran leadership to a young Pitt team. Millersville and West Chester would tie for the Shield and Saint Joseph's second side narrowly beat Lock Haven 14-10 in the Spoon final.

There was exciting play throughout the tournament and the upcoming stop at West Chester University on April 1st should provide the same level of excitement. Although Saint Joseph's leads the overall points standings, there is still a long way to go and many teams are still in the hunt for the 2017 KRC 7's Champion title.
