The 2017 Keystone 7's Series kicks off this weekend. The first of the three part series will be played in Conshohocken and hosted by Temple University.  On April 1st, the tournament will go to West Chester University and the final part will be played at Millersville University on April 8th. Last year, Temple was crowned the 2016 KRC 7's Champion and will look to repeat this year by warding off some quality teams.

Most teams participating have already gotten a 7's tournament under their belt so the teams should be primed and ready to go this weekend. Temple had a good showing at the Chesapeake 7's event in Salisbury earlier in the season. Pitt has been focusing on some 15's this spring with an impressive win at the Frostbite Tournament but always shows well when they flip the switch to 7's. West Virginia made it to final of the Big 12 7's Tournament back in February and should be a strong contender in the Keystone. Rowan will be making the jump to D1AA next year and recently won the Lafayette 7's tournament and did well down in Bermuda. Speaking of Bermuda, both West Chester and Saint Joseph's represented well at the event with the guys from Hawk Hill finishing 3rd overall. Millersville seems to be finding their stride and can impress this season. And Lock Haven looks to finally get their feet wet with some KRC 7's this spring.

This weekend, there will be two pools with five teams each in the tournament. At the end of pool play, teams will be ranked 1-5 with a single Championship game (1V1, 2V2, etc). This will make pool play that much more important.  It is anyone's guess who will finish on top, but one thing is certain, there will be plenty of fireworks throughout the Series.
