Mid-Atlantic Rugby Conference

This past weekend, three of the four Keystone Quarterfinal matches kicked off.  Two of the matches were won by large margins but one was close with the lower seeded team getting the victory. Here is a look at those matches...

Lock Haven vs Rutgers

Lock Haven traveled to Rutgers on Friday night. Rutgers cruised to a big victory with five different players crossing over for two scores each. Mike Nezgoda led Rutgers with 21 points... 1 try and 8 conversions. 

Millersville vs West Chester

Millersville traveled to West Chester on Saturday which was featured by Brendan Tripplett of This Is American Rugby News. West Chester got on the board first and looked great the entire match. Temple vs Pitt

This turned out to be the match of the weekend as Temple traveled out to Pitt. Early on, it was Pitt that would take the lead and Temple that kept answering back to keep the score close. Late in the game, Temple took a narrow lead but Christian Quiros slotted a penalty kick to tie the game at 31-31 with less then 5 minutes left to play.  In that time, some late game heroics by Temple allowed them to tack on one more converted try and go on to win 38-31.  To read more about the match, check out the Goff Rugby Report article online (Click Here).

Looking ahead...

There is still one more quarterfinal match to be played, Villanova at Saint Joseph's on October 22nd. However, the match ups are starting to take shape for the Championship Weekend. In the Cup round, Temple will play Rutgers again. Temple lost 12-10 against Rutgers in divisional playoffs so this should be a good match up. A much improved West Chester will await the winner of Villanova vs Saint Joseph's.  In the Bowl round, Pitt will look to bounce back against Lock Haven and Millersville will take on the loser from Villanova vs Saint Joseph's.
